Over the past year, One Recovery Bucks has been working with students at National Film and Television School (NFTS) to create a collection of short adverts highlighting drug and alcohol awareness and the support available to people in Buckinghamshire.
What started with a connection between our teams has developed into a fantastic creative collaboration, giving students the opportunity to develop their skills while helping us find new ways to communicate important messages about drug and alcohol use and recovery.
How did the collaboration begin?
The partnership began when Sarah, our Training Lead, made contact with NFTS and delivered training to teachers. This was followed by further drug and alcohol awareness sessions delivered to lecturers by our Communities Manager, Ronnie.
Following these sessions, Stuart, Co-Head of the Cinematography MFA course, approached us with an offer for the students to create a 30-second advert as part of their studies.
From there, the project grew.
Our team worked with the students to develop the brief and provide guidance. The students brought their own creativity and ideas to the project, bringing them to life on screen.
From ideas to the big screen
In December 2025, members of the One Recovery Bucks team visited the school, where the students presented their ideas to us on the big screen.
After many months of planning, we were delighted to see the students’ ideas come together in the finished films.
Watch the films
We’re proud to share the final films created by the students. Give them a watch below!
Please note: These films were created independently by the students as part of their studies. Whilst our team provided subject-matter guidance and feedback on the brief and ideas, the creative direction, language and final content were the students’ own and the characters and stories shown are fictional. The films are intended as creative student work and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed their time, creativity and ideas to the films.
Thank you
A huge thank you to the students and staff at NFTS for their creativity, enthusiasm and commitment throughout the project.
We’re proud to have been able to support students in developing their skills while giving them the opportunity to use their creativity to raise awareness of drug and alcohol support.
We hope this is the start of many more opportunities to work together.

“I feel very honoured to have been part of such a fantastic project. The adverts produced by the students are excellent, and I’m incredibly proud of the finished results.
Stuart was an absolute pleasure to work with, and each of the students brought their own unique perspective on how substance use can affect different people and their lives. It has been brilliant to see their creativity and ideas come to life.
A huge thank you to Stuart, all of the students, lecturers, scriptwriters and everyone else involved for their time, creativity and hard work. The fact that the students have generously created these adverts for our drug and alcohol service social media platforms is truly incredible, and we are extremely grateful.”
- Ronnie, Communities Manager at One Recovery Bucks
